Hi, my name is Max Hamlin and this is my Webcomic Memoir Project. For this project I chose this moment because I think that it was a very cool  thing to do. This particular moment happened on a backpacking trip with a company called Outward Bound. Outward Bound take all sorts of different ages on exciting trips, like river rafting or mountaineering. My particular trip was backpacking in Colorado at a place called Leadville. This is where Outward Bound is known to operate out of and its nickname is Cloud city because it sits at over 10,000 feet elevation. My trip was with 6 other kids and 3 instructors and we did some pretty cool stuff like climbing an 14,000 foot high mountain and swimming in Colorado ice melt. After doing all this stuff we were towards the back end of the trip and really only had one more thing to do which was to do the Solo. This is a part of every Outward Bound trip where you are by yourself for different periods of time. These time periods can go from 6 hours till 2 weeks depending on the type of trip you are doing, but my was only 1 day. There are also a few rules that happen on every solo. One of the big rules is that you cannot talk with anyone else for the duration of your solo. Another rule is they take all books, cards and other things to distract yourself and only give you a journal.

My comic covers most of the main points but it doesn't really cover food. On the evening of the first night they gave us 1 bowl of soup but no breakfast or lunch on the day after. To substitute for this they gave us a small bag with some snacks like dried fruit and granola. Of course I ate this within the first hour so it wasn't very helpful. Another big thing was mosquitoes. My campsite was full of them every time I sat down I would have to move again in 5 mins. It also didn't help that I forgot that I packed bugspray.

One thing that I should mention though was that I did use AI for my drawings and the particular AI I used was called ImgMCP ( I used the style of art called Xkcd ). Xkcd is a comicist who created a comic I enjoyed called Time and I thought that the art style would be prefect for this project. I used AI to create the comic because I am not to confident in my art skills ,but I should mention that I created the prompts for the AI and everything depicted in the images really did happen.
