The writing anthology is a project that captures the heart and purpose of the Middle School English Program: for every student to be able to envision themselves not only as a writer, but as a whole person whose voice, story, and ideas deserve to be heard. Each student submits a piece of writing and all pieces are published and printed into a book.

This year’s anthology features argumentative and analytical works, fiction, personal essays and memoir, letters, and poetry from all students in the middle school. Each piece is a response to the prompt: Why do you write? What does it mean to stand up and use your voice? The final collection captures the diversity in their personalities, imaginations, and ways they think about the world around them. Together, they form a unique portrait of our community as a whole, showing who we are and what matters to us in this moment.
