I chose this moment of my first time at a sleep away camp. It was a huge challenge for me because at that time I was never away from my parents for that long so it was a big moment in my life. It took me a while to decide how to make it and what steps to take. One thing I was sure about from the start was that I wanted to make less word bubbles of me talking in that moment and more of me narrating the story. I added lots of angles to the drawings so that it shows the story a bit better. In some pages I made myself smaller than I am to show that I felt small compared to my surroundings and the people around me. I would draw the scenes from memory and narrate what was happening. My story for my comic was inspired by a challenging time in my life.
