I chose this memory of burning my heater on a school trip for my graphic memoir because it’s a memory I’ll definitely never forget, plus it's special, funny, and interesting. It’s meaningful because I learned a very important and lifesaving lesson in that memory, and it's very eventful. It started when I first thought of my school trip to Yosemite when we had to think of memories in English class. I realized that my trip to Yosemite was not one memory, but many, so I extracted the most important memory and shortened or lengthened it to my liking. I communicated the character's tones/emotions through faces:sad, angry, happy, etc. Also focusing in on the character’s body posture and word bubbles helped show emotion to its fullest. I balanced both images and words by trying to mostly use my drawing skills over words, but sometimes I needed the aid of a word box explaining what was going on in the scene when pictures didn’t make it clear enough, and where I remembered people talking I summed up more or less of what they said with word bubbles to the extent of my memory. My graphic memoir is inspired by Persepolis because they both show stuff burning at some point, they both show the story through the  perspective of the innocent eyes of a child, and of course, they’re both graphic memoirs.
