For my webcomic memoir , I chose to tell the story of what happened to my friend Leela in fifth grade. What happened was she told me and my friend group who her crush was at the time which was not the best idea because thanks to more than subtle teasing and a skit made by my other friend sky , it got leaked and caused a whole thing. In the story , I call leela and her crush emerald and pine in the story because we gave each other and our crushes code names in fifth grade , so I thought I'd keep them to add to it. I think my story relates to Persepolis because at the end of the story I realized that teasing my friend about her crush was wrong and tried to stop it from happening, witch is like when marji starts to do little things to show and support which side she was on.

When I chose the prompt , I immediately had the idea to do the emerald and pine story because I thought it identified with the story so well, and I had SO MANY IDEAS on how to illustrate it.

I chose to hand draw and hand write my webcomic because I wanted to challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone . ( I don't really like to draw) I also used speech bubbles in my story to make it more like a comic because that's my style. The art in my web comic shows what my old school was like and really sets the scene for the story.
