I chose this memory for my webcomic because this was a big moment for me since it was my first time at a sleepaway camp. Even though I really didn’t feel ready at first, I ended up having a lot of fun. Similar to Persepolis, my story shows that even if you don’t feel like you are ready for something you often are, and the only thing holding you back is yourself.

Thinking of a good memory for my webcomic was really hard for me since I don’t have a great memory, but I felt like this story was important to me so I picked it. Then I used a panel planner to really filter out any unnecessary details that would make the story too long. After that I made a quick rough draft of my webcomic and read through it a few times to make sure that I told the story the way that I wanted to.

In my comic I decided to only color panels that showed heavy emotion, so that the reader could really feel that the moment was an emotional one. I think that the contrast between the panels that were colored and the ones that weren’t helped show more emotion.
