I believe that food and clean water should be a human right for all
Tao Circosta
I believe that food and clean water should be a human right.
I think this because it feels really bad to be hungry.
If I go a few hours without eating, then I am extremely hungry and it hurts, so I can't imagine how it feels to go days without eating. It makes me sad when I see people begging for food on the side of the road. For example, I live in Hollywood. There's a lot of homeless and hungry people there. I see them almost everyday.
The same goes for water.
If I'm really thirsty, it feels awful.
This matters because people are starving and even dying because of their lack of food and water.
Access to water can be really difficult for some people such as, homeless people, people who live in a dry desert, or people who can't afford a working sink. Sometimes dirty water is someone's only option. Dirty water is unsafe to drink because it might have parasites. This matters because we are in a drought prone area. For example, people need to stop leaving the sink on, taking super long showers, and watering the grass too much. The drought means less water. This is why it's important to not waste water.
You can help people in your community by volunteering at a food bank, donating food, or donating money to a charity for people in need.
I've volunteered at a few food banks and it feels really good to feel like you are making a difference. I've packed and cooked meals, and I've sorted food for people in need.
My parents modeled this belief for me. They have always donated and helped out. Clean water is a human necessity. You need food and water to survive and that's why everyone deserves food and water.
Life is better when people have food.
Writer's Statement
Writer's statement: I chose this topic because I see it everywhere. I live in Hollywood and there are hungry and homeless people all over the city.
My family has always believed in helping those in need so I thought this would be a good topic to talk about.
Thank you.
