Small Actions Can Be Big
Sam Dichter
It may sound simple, but doing small actions such as helping homeless people has shown me that small actions can make a difference. I believe that small actions can have a big impact.
I was eating ice cream with my mom and grandma and a homeless man came over. My mom offered to buy the man some food I forgot if it was a sandwich or salad. I felt bad for the man and I wanted to help but I was very young. Now that I'm older and can actually help those people, I have learned that a small action such as giving someone a few dollars or giving them extra food which might be small to you but it also might be big to them and I realized that small actions can have a big impact.
This isn’t just about homeless people either, say if you have a lot of homework and you are really stressed don’t try to tackle it all at once, section it off into bitesize pieces and then do a little bit at a time then before you know it you are done. We can all feel stressed or powerless at times but if you realize this then you can make a difference in someone else's life or in yours.
You can see this when you look at small lifestyle changes like taking a five minute walk daily or eating healthier foods these are small changes in your diet and lifestyle that can lead to a greater impact if upheld, Which is a healthier lifestyle for example on the weekends if I don't have anything to do on that day instead of just watching tv and snacking or playing video games I practice basketball for an hour or two which has led me to a healthier lifestyle.
So yes, I believe that small actions can make a big difference in your life, someone else's, or even homework. Just remember to take it one step at a time. The next time you feel stressed or powerless remember that small actions can have a big impact
Writer's Statement
In my “This I Believe” essay I wrote about how small actions can make a big difference. Originally while writing my essay I was writing about how you should always try to help homeless people but as I wrote more I realized that the bigger idea was that small actions can make a difference or impact. In my essay I used helping homeless people as an example quite a lot. The reason for this is that it was my original idea but also because it's something that I really believe in and it has actually shown me this belief in action. While writing I tried to use different examples so different people could understand an example is changes in your diet or exercise. What i want the readers to take away from this essay is that you don't always have to feel super stressed by trying to do stuff in bulk and that you can split it up into smaller portions and still make a difference
