I Believe That Women Should Have the Same Equality and Rights as Men

Ruby Monroe

Everytime that I look into the mirror im constantly reminded that I am different that I have to act and dress a certain way, So my question to you is this how you want your daughters to grow up with less equality; because in the future I know that isn't how I want my daughter to grow up, and I sure hope you don't want your daughter to be paid less than any man or for her to think that she is less than any man because let me tell you she is most definitely not. I believe that women should have the same equality and rights as men.

I’ve always believed this but it really clicked to me when over the summer my grandma told me I dressed, looked, and acted like a hooker. I was at my grandma’s house for the first time alone over the summer and I was dressed how I normally dress and I was wearing a shirt from Edikted and short shorts and we weren't even going anywhere but I guess she wasn't even used to it my grandma looked disgusted and disappointed as she looked at me it made me feel very self consciousness I can’t even look at myself in the mirror wearing the shirt she told me that I looked like a hooker in on a deeper level women being treated poorly reminds us that no matter who the woman is to you she matters too and deserves equality in a world where women are treated less equal than men. We need to wake up and realize women are human too and they deserve respect and equality. They should be able to walk late alone at night without the fear of being harassed.

Every man is raised by a woman without women there would be no men. You can see this by how when women run for president or when a woman works in a predominantly male space it might be hard to notice but the inequality is always there some of you just choose to ignore it so yes I believe in women's rights and so should you and everyone else because its something that if you have a daughter one day she is going to go through it just remember that behind every single man is a strong, hardworking, brilliant, smart, gorgeous woman and she wants and deserves respect and equality and despite what any man might tell her she still fights her way up the ladder to earn privilege. Women don’t want to be the housewives that are portrayed in movies or tv shows. They want to be themselves

Writer's Statement

The purpose of my piece is to express my belief that women deserve the same equality and rights as men and to show how gender inequality affects women on a personal level. By sharing a personal experience of being judged for how I dress, I highlight how deeply rooted sexism and double standards still are in society.
My intended audience is anyone who overlooks or ignores gender inequality, especially parents who may have daughters. Overall, my goal is to raise awareness, challenge harmful attitudes, and remind readers that women deserve respect, safety, and equality simply because they are human
