I Believe In The Power Of Nature
Axel Lee
I believe that spending time in nature will change someone for the better.
Humans don't realize how lucky they are to be able to go out in nature when they want. Nature is a gift that dies everyday, yet also grows everyday. Over 4 billion animals die a day and 15 billion trees get cut down every year. I chose to write about nature because people take it for granted and don't realize how special it is.
Nature has always been important to me, but I really started to feel its inspiring effect this summer when I went to Norway. The house where my family stayed overlooked an uncanny yet beautiful forest. I had to know what lied within that moist, foggy, potentially treacherous wilderness.
The moment I stepped inside that thicket of fallen rocks and mossy leaves, I felt different. It was as if I had just come home after a long day's work. I was relieved to know a place like this existed on earth. With the light breeze running along my face and arms, the curiosity of what else I could find in this forest was interminable.
The feeling of being outside is one thing, but the feeling of being outside not because you are being told to, without being forced to, and being happy is another thing. It's a privilege. Doing things such as taking your dog out for a walk or just going on a walk by yourself or with people is very healthy for your state of mind, you feel refreshed and if you just need a break it's great for resetting your mood.
Nature is a limited source. Did you know that there are less than 5,500 tigers left in the world? 100 years ago there were more than 100,000 tigers. Enjoy nature while you can, not just because it's going away but because you can.
Writer's Statement
I feel very strongly that being in nature is important. That's why I chose this topic for my essay. People don't have to love or even like nature. I just want them to acknowledge how important it is. I look forward to seeing the future. However, what I am not looking forward to is people going from planet to planet polluting it. Sure that'll be in 50-100 years but I hope people learn from their mistakes. ( While researching for this statement I found out that people thought we were going to be living on mars by 2020…)
