V.E. Schwab delightfully blurs the line between good and evil in this supernatural thriller that pushes the bounds of friendship, determination, and morality. I loved this book, especially the way Schwab switches between Victor and Eli’s collegiate friendship and the gritty, grimy present day. This book is a great read for lovers of fantasy, realistic fiction, and horror alike, blending the three genres together in an awesome concoction of life, death, and moral grey areas. I really liked the way friendships and relationships between characters are portrayed, and the depictions of how people can lie, and deceive, and use other people for their own personal gain. And if you like this one, the sequel, Vengeful, is just as good, and the third, Victorious, is being released on October 6, 2026.
